Writing Rant

Note: this post will be x-posted to DW/LJ. Since Disillusion-Avenue is the home for most of my fannish things, rantings about the process of creating fannish things will be stored here, too. It’ll be neater this way.

Now, that we’ve settled this, let’s come to the important things. *g*

I know there’s still a lot of time until the first draft for [info]smallvillebbang has to be submitted – I think it’s June 28th – but of course I’m already working on that fic. Well, I should say stories… I can’t decide which one to submit – again, there’s still a lot of time to make up my mind – but currently I’m a little stuck. It’s not that I don’t know what to write, or what will happen next. As always, the “structure” is already built in my head; if that wasn’t the case I shouldn’t have signed up for that thing. However, in both stories I’m currently working on scenes I don’t really like. I mean, I do like the scenes, and they’re more or less important for the development of the story, it’s just… I realized I don’t like the main characters in said scenes. *headdesk*

Character A is so damn boring, and Character B is too exhausting; in both stories! *sighs*

So, fellow writers? What do you do when you’re stuck? Put the story aside and hope your muse won’t turn her back on you? Skip that trouble-causing scene and work on the next ones? Scratch that scene completely and hope the story will work without it anyway, although you know it’s kinda important? Start from the beginning again?

I’m not really good working with deadlines. *shakes head* June still seems to be so far away, but when I look at the Writing Process bar, and then at the calendar… Why did I say I’d participate in this year’s round? Why didn’t anyone stop me?
